What is a great tourism experience? ...
One of the first steps in creating immersive and sustainable tourism experiences is defining your concept (what is the experience you want to offer).
The workshops we just completed with Smithsonian Institution and the USAID Turizam Project in Bosnia & Herzegovina helped entrepreneurs and institutions move from an idea to a more structured understanding of the experiences they could offer and how to make that happen.
Some key components included storytelling as an integral part of designing any visitor experience, understanding who the culture and tradition bearers are in the community and how to ethically engage with them as well as practical steps to planning your experience.
Bosnia & Herzegovina has great potential to develop and expand the immersive experiences it offers to visitors to keep them in the country for longer and increase revenues for those that host travelers.
